A Dose of Noura Sakkijha, Co-Founder of Mejuri

Introducing this month's "A Dose of...", where we feature beauty enthusiasts on how they seek pleasure and build their own pleasure ritual. For the month of December on "A Dose of..." we're featuring Noura Sakkijha, co-founder of Mejuri. Our Golden Hour collaboration with Mejuri runs through the month of December. Make sure to book the Mejuri x Majesty's Pleasure Manicure to Stay Golden This Holiday!

When fine jewelry runs in the family, you learn about the industry’s not-so-sparkly parts early on. Noura Sakkijha, founder of Mejuri and third-generation jeweler, noticed that fine jewelry pieces, while they’re usually what you wear when you want to look your best, are typically purchased for gifting — and, of course, that’s traditionally from men to women.

While Sakkijha loved learning about precious metals and jewelry-making techniques, she couldn’t see herself in an industry that pushed such an antiquated binary between the giftee and giver — it propelled her to start a career in engineering instead. Still, with entrepreneurship practically in her veins, she began building Mejuri as a place where people can invest in their own timeless pieces at a price that makes every day a special occasion.

Sakkijha left her day job to run Mejuri full-time, and the rest is history. Still, we can only imagine how daunting it must have been to not only switch career paths but create a new definition for the industry your entire family is in. We caught up with her to see how she navigates it all, plus her favourite ways to maintain her pleasure rituals.

Noura's Favourite Mejuri Pieces

It’s hard to choose but I am currently coveting the Pyra Diamond Tennis Bracelet - the style and its flexibility is so unique but it will last a lifetime. Other favourites of mine are the Charlotte Bold Ring, which is currently stacked on top of my wedding ring for a bolder look, and the Micro-Pavé Diamond Rivière Choker, which I hardly take off.

What is a favourite pleasure of yours? How do you seek pleasure amidst your busy schedule?

More and more with my busy schedule and being a mom, I find true pleasure in finding moments of spontaneity. Having free time to do whatever I want has become increasingly rare, but amidst all the noise of my day to day, it is so important and usually means a trip to the spa, dinner with friends, doing a pottery class or a dance party with my girls.

If you were to design a day of self-care, what would it look like?

It would look like waking up at my own pace, having a slow morning without anything booked in my schedule, followed by working out and reading one of my favourite books. I’d top it off with a massage and going to dinner with friends and my family.

What is your favourite thing about Majesty’s Pleasure? What are your favourite services?

Majesty’s Pleasure is absolutely my go-to place for my mani and pedi. What I love so much about it is that it never feels like a chore or something I have to check off my list. Getting my nails done at Majesty’s Pleasure feels like “me time” and like I’m pampering myself. That is definitely in large part due to the level of service and care - the team at Majesty’s Pleasure really takes the time to personalize the experience to you.

If I am treating myself, I love the Ultimate Gel Manicure – it is so relaxing and the hydrating mask really soothes my hands. You can also never go wrong with the Signature Pedicure.
