When I was growing up, no one liked Mondays. Sunday evenings meant the weekend had flown by, and another busy, stressful week was quickly approaching. It also meant the weekend was five whole days away. Fast forward to my mid 20s, and that’s all changed. Mondays have easily become one of my favourite days of the week. I love the feeling of new beginnings and starting fresh. If you’re still not quite feeling Mondays yet, here are a few ways to make them better:
Setting time aside to prepare for the week ahead will make all the difference in the world. Monday will be a day you actually look forward to. Take an hour on Sunday night to set yourself up for a successful week. Organize your work + personal to do list, and fill out your calendar once you’re done. Cooking and meal prepping are great ways to plan out what you want to eat, grocery lists, and dinner dates. Another tip is to plan your outfits; having a capsule work wardrobe makes getting ready extremely easy. If you do this every Sunday, once Monday morning hits, you’ll be incredibly organized and ready to hit the ground running.
Monday mornings usually mean a strong cup of coffee to start the day. Why not treat yourself to a latte (or your caffeinated drink of choice) from your favourite coffee shop? Even if you’re a make-it-at-home kind of gal, you can create a fancy coffee for yourself with all the fixings: vanilla, cinnamon, whipped cream, etc. Creating this routine will make Mondays a little more special.
Plan a fun date after work! This can be solo or with a partner, whatever your preference. Get a blow out, watch a movie, or hit up your go-to restaurant in Toronto. Plan to enjoy yourself, indulge, and relax. By scheduling activities that are usually reserved for the weekend, you’ll give yourself something to look forward to on Mondays, turning it into one of your favourite days of the week.
Implementing all these little things will make Mondays so much better, I promise!
