We’ve all seen a body brush delicately hung in our favorite beauty bloggers’ bathrooms, correct? Other than being a pleasing addition to your bathroom’s aesthetics, there are some serious skin care and health benefits of dry brushing the skin daily. Here are a few reasons to consider dry brushing every morning.
Increase in Skin Firmness
Think back to a time when you did not exfoliate the skin on your face. Chances are, your skin was a bit flaky and lackluster. Similarly, if you are experiencing dry, bumpy, or lackluster skin, it is most likely because you are not exfoliating your skin correctly. Dry brushing is the perfect remedy for this since it gently sloughs dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin, revealing a dewy and plump glowing complexion all over.
Lymphatic Drainage, Anyone?
Lymphatic drainage is not just for the face; we have lymph channels throughout the entire body that work to expel toxins from our systems. Much like a gua sha tool helps to move stagnant lymphatic fluids from your face, a dry brush helps the entire body get rid of lymphatic fluids. To properly drain the lymphatic fluid system, start the dry brushing process every morning at your hands and feet. Then, using circular motions, brush up the legs and arms, down your chest, and up your belly until you reach your heart.
Decrease Inflammation in the Body
Dry brushing is terrific for decreasing all types of inflammation in the skin and body. Now, here’s how: dry brushing increases circulation in the body. With an increase of circulation comes a spike in oxygen and white blood cells delivered to inflamed areas, resulting in less swelling in the hands and feet, or anywhere else you may feel a bit tender.
